Polémique sur une photo !



Dans la rubrique ' le Spalding ' , j'avais repris le commentaire de Kermit ....:
D'après Kermit :
Un type de 'spaulding' c'est le Shamarpa hybrides ou "Améthyste" (dans le jardin du Temple bouddhiste au Sikkim et aussi réparti au Tibet) .
L'améthyste est une expérience intéressante, la plupart sont sauvages aujourd'hui, cette race hybride entre paon bleu du Bhoutan et du mâle birman et ou l'une des formes du Yunnan..... etc....etc....

Aujourd'hui j'ai des doutes sur la véracité du propos car j'ai découvert l'origine de cette photo .... bien loin des Temples du Sikkim.
Cette photo de Flickr a été faite au Parc des oiseaux à Kuala Lumpour en Malaisie en 10/2009 par Bob.

D'ailleurs les plantes tropicales dans le fond auraient du me mettre sur la piste .



Où est la vérité ????

I am well aware of this. True this bird is in KL Bird Park. That bird park is FULL of hybrids and no bird there could have been native to Malaysia (the Green Peafowl are also hybrids which don't look to be muticus muticus either). These birds had to have been imported here from somewhere else in Asia.

But one must take into consideration the ORIGIN of where the birds were from, even if we don't know. In history, most Green Peafowl were imported through Japan. Indian Peafowl were imported from India and Sri Lanka.

The people of Bhutan and Tibet revered these Amethyst dragonbirds. These were indian Peafowl mixed with Antiqus and Spicifer Arakansis. It is not impossible that these birds were taken from there.

The location of the photograph doesn't mean anything. This is not an Americanized mutation but one that appears to be of feral origin, not unlike the Shamarpa birds. At the least, these birds have developed the same traits of colours as that of an Amethystine Dragonbird. Kermit posted this photo because at the very least, this bird has the traits of an amethyst! He studied similar birds which were imported from Tibet during his college years.
